Many of you may already know that I am going to teach first grade next school year. As I decided to change grade levels and move all the way across the school, summer is going to be very busy. I have spent the last 18 years teaching Kindergarten students, which I absolutely loved. Then, the opportunity came along to transfer up to first grade. I am really not one to make rash decisions, but something inside me told me I needed to make the move. Although I am not too spontaneous, I will say that when these gut feelings come along, I don't question them and follow my instinct!
Basically, everything I have created in the last years need to change, as it did not apply to the first grade curriculum. Then, I had the lovely realization that my rugs, organizer furniture and teacher easel did not translate to the first grade, either. I have a lot of work ahead of me, planning and decorating for my new room. It is very exciting journey and I am very busy reading and learning the new curriculum. I can't wait for the summer programs to end and begin working in my new room.
I am creating this blog to share about my transition and personal life. Typically, I do not share too much of my personal life. I will say that teaching is something near and dear to my heart, and I want to share it with my lovely readers. Teaching is one of the biggest blessings in my life, and is an opportunity that I am so very thankful for. Take a peek to my next summer project: Milk crate seats for classroom.
